Biological Activity: Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The biological activity was measured by its ability to enhance neurite outgrowth of E16E18 rat embryonic cortical neurons, when neurons were plated on 96 well culture plates that had been precoated with 100 µl/well of a solution of 510 µg/ml rHuPTN.

MW: 15.3 kDa

Purity: >96% as determined by SDSPAGE and HPLC.

Endotoxin: Less than 1.0 EU/µg as determined by LAL method.

Relevance: Secreted growth factor that induces neurite outgrowth and which is mitogenic for fibroblasts, epithelial, and endothelial cells. Binds anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) which induces MAPK pathway activation, an important step in the anti-apoptotic signaling of PTN and regulation of cell proliferation. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11278720, ECO:0000269|PubMed:1768439}.

Notes: Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4℃ for up to one week.

Function: Secreted growth factor that induces neurite outgrowth and which is mitogenic for fibroblasts, epithelial, and endothelial cells

Involvement in disease:

Subcellular Location: Secreted

Protein Families: Pleiotrophin family

Tissue Specificity: Osteoblast and brain.

Paythway:

Form: Lyophilized powder

Buffer: Lyophilized from a 0.2 m filtered PBS, pH 7.4

Reconstitution: We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
